Ashley Gillard-Allen

Ashley Gillard-Allen | DIRECTOR

Ashley, born in Wales, received his architectural training at The Auckland University School of Architecture. He is a registered architect and became a director in 1994, winner of many architectural awards locally and nationally. His approach to architecture is of simple rational forms yet also intuitive, creating a total built environment that is memorable and appropriate to its end use. His favourite project to date is Wairakei Lodge which embodies many of these principles.

Chris

Chris, trained at The Auckland University School of Architecture, joined Walker Architects in 1984, and became a director in 1994. He has extremely good eye for attention to detail, and for the process of achieving a quality product in the built environment.

Jamie Simpkin

Jamie Simpkin | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Jamie is a registered architect and associate director of Walker Architects. He graduated in 1987 from the University of Auckland, School of Architecture. Previously worked for Lawrence Mollison in Invercargill and Sumich McGee in Auckland prior to a stint in London for R.M.J.M. as a design architect.

On returning to New Zealand, he worked as a partner in Studio Two Architects. Joined Walker Co. Partnership (now Walker Architects) in 1992. Since this time he has worked on many and varied projects in different roles, notably on New Zealand and India Cinemas, Offices, and Apartment buildings. His involvement is predominantly up front with feasibility, bulk studies and as principle Architectural designer.

Involved as designer in projects such as Original Village Force Cinema Multiplexes, Queen Street Entertainment Centre, Viaduct Offices blocks for Tramco, Wairakei Lodge, Apartment buildings such as Nautilus and Sentinel, and Goa International Film Festival venue for Inox in Goa India.

Peter Prosee

With a Bachelor of Architecture from Auckland University in 1981, Peter spent 4 years with Hocking & Verrall Architects in Rotorua, with roles in the design and documentation for projects such as the Government Gardens Orchid house and Polynesian Pools Alterations.

Registered in NZ, Peter spent five years in Europe, including working as design/ project architect on large scale developments in the London fringe areas, before joining Walker Architects in 1990. Early work included the development of a nationwide model for National Insurance offices and the development of early regional multiplex cinemas for Village Force, culminating with the design of the award-winning SKYCITY Metro. Peter was involved with the masterplan for the Viaduct Harbour, and the subsequent design of the Maritime Square offices. He led the team design submission for Britomart in 2000, and a successful competition bid for a new international film festival complex in Goa, India, completed in 2004. Later work included the design and management of high quality fitouts for corporate and individual clients such as Tramco and Lanes Food Group in the Maritime office complex and recently the design development and management of luxury apartments and hospitality / hotel projects in Taupo and Auckland, including the award winning Wairakei Lodge.

Peter has a strong interest in interiors with emphasis on detail and lighting and in historical and public area planning and is involved in these aspects for most projects in the office at a conceptual and design development level.

Simon Adnitt

Simon Adnitt | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Simon joined Walker Architects in 1997 while attending Auckland University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) in 2000. Becoming an Associate in 2003.

Current projects revolve around the recently opened Queenstown office where he is responsible for a number of Hotel and Apartment developments ranging in size from 10 to over 200 rooms. Recent projects include cinemas both here and India where he travelled in 2002, Office fitouts, Bar and Restaurant fitouts and two 16 storey apartment buildings located on Auckland's water front.

Prior to his move to Auckland in 1996 Simon worked as draughtsman for the Dunedin based practise McCoy & Wixon Architects, where he worked for 4 years after graduating with NZCAD from the Otago Polytechnic.

Originally from Tauranga, Simon’s interests have centred around Volley Ball and Beach Volley Ball. One of the highlights being the World Student Games held in Japan.

Abdul Saheed

Abdul Saheed | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Abdul, originally from Fiji, emigrated to New Zealand in the late 1980’s to work in the architectural design field. Abdul has been part of Walker Architects team since 1991 where he has further developed his interest and expertise in passive thermal design of buildings with projects in Papua New Guinea ,Samoa ,Fiji, and the Cook Islands.

He is a Registered Architect and an Associate Director, and has project managed many major buildings for the office including the award winning Metropolis Apartment. He has keen interest in sports and is trying to develop his golf skills when he can find the time.

Simon Adnitt

Paul Sutcliffe | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Paul, originally from Whangarei, worked for two residential and commercial practices whilst gaining his NZCD ( Arch ) He spent 9 years in the UK (London) gaining extensive experience in Transmitting Stations in the UK and Middle East while employed by the British Brodacasting Corporation.

Upon his return he contracted to Architectural firms in Auckland prior to joining Walker Architects Ltd. in 1996. He has worked on many large commercial projects since then including major portfolios of work for Woolworths, LDS Church and SkyCity Cinema. This has involved producing design development / working drawings followed by more involved project management of projects.

Paul value to Walker Architects was acknowledged in 2008 when he was made as Associate Director.
Paul has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Africa and Asia and has a keen interest in all sports, particularly rugby, golf and horse racing.
